That’s a butt pouch, not a butt plate. Two different things.

Recently upgraded my bcd and started diving steels in sidemount. Probably never more than 4 bottles at a time. Pros and cons to setting up with or without butt plate. Thankx to all that read and reply.

I have heard divers on charter boats complain that butt plates don't play nice seating.

I would think that primarily, it's all what you get used to. If you are partial to butt plates, you will find a way.

I like a buttplate for backmount. Granted it mainly serves as a place to clip off my camera while scootering.

I did my sidemount training with one on a Hollis 75. I didn't like it. I now dive with an xDeep Tec and clip my LP 85s to my waistband on fixed D-rings. It's rare to see xDeep users with steel tanks adding a butt plate.

Easy and only 2 steps required.

step 1.Take SMS in hand, walk outside door to the trash bin, open bin, put hand above opening, open hands.

Step 2. Close bin, walk inside to computer, order a real SM rig.


Voilà!
