Two cruise ships are overnighting in coz tonight. This is not typical. Due to Irma.

Two cruises will spend the night in Cozumel

COZUMEL, Sept. 7 .- The destination will live a nocturnal tourist weekend as it was years ago, as there will be cruises that will spend the night on the island when changing its route in the Caribbean as a result of Hurricane Irma.
Emilio Villanueva Sosa, representative of the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) in Cozumel, announced that this Friday will be an important touristic day in terms of cruises, due to the arrival of five floating hotels. On Friday, the Carnival Dream, Liberty of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and the MSC Opera are scheduled, the latter two will stay overnight in Cozumel, as it happened before September 11, 2011, and highlights that the Opera will stay at the destination two days to leave the island until Sunday.
For Saturday only two cruises, the Carnival Sensation and the Carnival Triumph were scheduled, although the Norwegian Escape was added.
Also said that for Sunday there is high probability of the arrival of another cruise, when none were planned.
He recommended to the owners of shops, restaurants, bars, to have their businesses open so that the tourists have the possibility to generate income to the businesses and to consider to the island like an ideal destination to spend the night as they did until before the fall of the Towers Twins in New York.
They are expecting that there will be more cruise arrivals for next week, and although it has not been confirmed, the shipping companies will not be following their usual itineraries in the Caribbean, choosing instead to divert their routes to Cozumel.

OMG, prices are not going to go down for two days

Nope, we don't mess with prices or negotiate at all. All Cruise ship divers that want to join us are welcome and we will take them to good places, way past Paradise.

I seem to be a mess of confusion today--I didn't mean you or any of the dive ops, I meant the vendors in centro de San Miguel. I have seen them lower their prices as the cruise ships are leaving. I even suspected one particular restaurant of having separate menus for the cruise ship passengers. I noticed the same thing in Puerto Vallarta--we went to the naval museum and it was free on days that there were no cruise ships but they charged on the days there were in the port. Some of the friends we made even told us not to buy anything when the cruise ships were there.
