Being attacked is something no one wants to experience, whether that is up in the air, down on the ground, or underwater. Being attacked on land gives us a running chance to either run or fight our hardest. However, we already have the stack set against us when we are underwater.
We’re slower in the water, and not to mention; we cannot breathe. So, when this diver comes face to face with a bull shark looking to attack him, the diver is already at a disadvantage.
The video posted below takes us to the Bahama waters. But wait, not only does it take us to the water, but it takes us 86 feet below the surface. We see a diver going to the depths. He is able to hold a spear in hand. He does this in case he comes across anything dangerous, and he would be right.
The bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas) is one of 500+ shark species. As we can imagine, these shark species vary in habitat location, size, and in diet. The bull shark is not the largest species of shark; that is reserved for the whale shark, which weighs up to 20 tons and is capable of reaching 59 feet long.
Even though the bull shark isn’t the biggest species, he still takes his place among large sharks. He can weigh anywhere from 90-230 kilograms (200-500 pounds) and reach up to 2.1-3.5 meters (7-11.5 feet) long.
So, we can imagine why an approximately 500-pound 11.5-foot-long shark swimming by this diver would scare him!
