Finally, after 5 years we were back to our favorite destination: Indonesia. This time we choose the Togians and Gorontalo as a destination, beeing aware that it might not be as good as the other top spots like, RA, Komodo, North Sulawesi or Banda. But we were positivly surprised.
With 5 Glamping ( kind of luxury big tent) and 7 Bungalows it is quite small. The french/indonesian couple, who run the place offer full board with local and international cuisine on a good levelBuka Buka is a relativ new dive resort on a small island between Ampana and the Togian islands.
The divecenter just opend few month ago.
So the rental gear was all new .You could see, that there is still some place for improvment eg
in dive site descriptions and briefings. On the other side, where do you get the change for an explorationdive
The whole Island is surrounded by a Wall of about 40m ,which is in a great shape.
My wife, who could not dive due to a cold, had a good time snorkling either a the house Reef or with us divers from the boat.
After each dive the boat returns to the jetty, because all sites are so close arround the island.
Only the Trip to the mainland near Ampana is a whole day excursion.
Big Fish or big schools are a rarity. some turtle and rays.
The main attraktion are the healthy colourfull Walls, with caves and overhangs, coverd with hard, soft coralls and many sponges.
Not too many small stuff. Definatly more wide angel.
Diving was organized in small groups, often one guide for two diver.
Unfortunatly until now no Nitrox, but it is planned.
Visibility was super good with mostly arround 30m and no current.
We booked a glamping tent and liked it. No air con needed, because the breeze went easily thru the moskito net covering the whole front facing.
the sea.
The other guest were from the Netherland, USA, France and Australia, so quite international.
Pictures will follow.
