Now I know that this is a pretty serious forum, but this is a serious endeavor....

I am generally leery of folk cures and treatments, but several of us older folks are really enjoying the reliving benefits of this Amerind idea. We dig up perrineal roots of a wild gourd native to southwestern Noth America, soak slices in rubbing alcohol, and rub it on our problem areas. Seems to work well?

Internet searches have to lead me to sites where this root is being used as insecticide bait, as well as fuel in arid areas, and to some vague references to treating sore joints. Thought I'd ask here...

Any medical professionals care to comment on the practice? I'd really be interested in any comments, good or bad.

Anyeone know sources for bubbalo gourd root powder? The U.S.D.A. is using it in researching insect control, so I guess they have sources? We're going through our native supplies here in semi-arid West Texas, and I wonder if anyone with contacts in Mexico might happen to know of sources there.

thanks, don
