Budget cannon??

I am a newbie and I have heard the Dc500's basically suck I heard go Cannon well for about 400 to 500 bucks what could i get anything good?? if you can send links to anything helpful to I would appreicate it thank you

they both have buy/sell sections in the forums, and you can pick up a used xt with the kit lens for $400-450.
