I'll be in La Jolla Saturday and Sunday with my SO and would like to dive Sunday morning (Not too early!:D). Normally she would be my buddy but she is sick and can't dive this weekend. Will anyone be out that way wiling to let me tag along or just buddy up? I'm looking forward to my first La Jolla dive, I usually dive Laguna Beach so this will be a nice change.

Viz kind of sucks right now, but if it improves by Sunday I could be interested.

What's the viz like down there? I went last weekend in Laguna and it was 8' to 12' which is not great but it was nice to get wet.

Tuesday night vis was about 5ft above 50fsw, below it was about 10-15. The surf is up pretty good right now though.

I have plans Sunday otherwise I would take you out. If you don't have luck on here try Divematrix.com

Oh yeah.... it was 48 at depth... yes 48!!!!

48? OK, well....that sounds really cold. I'll play it by ear at this point and watch the surf conditions but i'm still up for a "possible" dive now. I'll bring the gear no matter what.

I went out to the north wall today and got my posterior handed to me on the way out ... great dive on the wall ... lots of blacksmiths and assorted bass, then all the fish ran for the grottos. I thought maybe I was making too much noise when out of the canyon came a seal charging the wall ... pretty funny actually! Trip back in was a little easier on the bottom till 6-8fsw ...then the sets crushed me.

Scripps had a boat out off of Valecitos point it showed up on my return trip in ...thought I heard propellers but guessed it was escaping gas since nobody ever brings a boat in that close. Checked my guages and computer to confirm ...but no gas loss. When I surfaced in the impact zone I looked over my shoulder after recovering from a direct hit from a breaker (tossed me like a bouy) and there was the Scripps boat .... good thing I didn't have to do an early ascent cause the boat was probably 100yds from my eastward turn just north of the point ... a little too close IMHO.

Vis was ok, water temps are climbing but the current was pretty strong and the surge and surf were tiring. Summer is coming and the canyon is crawling with life ...
