we were at Buddy Dive in 2007 and as I remember it, you had to go to office and request a password, pay a fee for a certain number of minutes (don't remember how much), and then go back to your room to log onto your laptop. It worked off and on, some days well, some days you got booted off constantly.

Has this changed at all? Is wifi available now without the glitches and fee?

We are thinking of going back to Bonaire this year and we would most likely stay at Buddy's again regardless.

I was just at Buddy Dive in October, and the wifi worked fine... had to pay a daily/weekly rate for it, but it seemed OK for the most part...

I was there in Nov, 2008 and Nov, 2009.
They have unlimited wifi for $40 a week now, I think it was.
But not all the wireless routers worked all the time.
I ended up not being able to use it on my patio the last few days, had to walk up to the office to access it.
Perhaps this issue is fixed now?

Wow, $40 is kinda high for a week. I think when we were there it was less than $20, but not sure. Anyone else have experience in past year????

Meh.

6 bucks a day is pretty cheap, and par for the course... Some places might give you "free" WiFi, but the cost would end up in the bill somewhere...

Hey, Robin. Still have to buy a timed code from the office. In October it worked fine but one code they provided didn't work and had to get another which did. Also the car they rented had a non functional speedometer and only a small amout of gas, so had to go through the hassle of checking out another. And we had to book an extra day at the front end to assure a room was ready upon red-eye arrival at 5:00am. Also watch your charges at the restaurants at Buddy's - charged for items never ordered and double charged tip for the BBQ night.

But WOW the shore diving rocks as you know.

Week of internet access at Sand Dollar is $25, obviously, the key is whether it works relialbly for the week or not. This is a small expense relative to the cost of the trip.

Good diving, Craig

thanks!

Yeah, last trip we watched the charges as it didn't seem the restaurant was really checking names/room numbers given by people. But that is true of any resort anywhere. There is always some jerk who wants to give someone else's room number and see if they can get away with it.

Last trip our room was ready right after breakfast, so we didn't have to wait. Hopefully this trip it won't be long but I really won't worry about it. As you know, they will let you go ahead and do the Orientation and dive or snorkel while waiting. First day this time I think we are hitting the grocery store, too. Last trip we waited a day or two and the store was pretty bare by the time we got there.

I think we have decided for sure we are going back to Bonaire!!!

Allright!!! Eli's Deli is great for lunch - right off the first round-about. The store downtown has much larger selection. Feed the ruddy turnstones on the dock a bit of bacon and pat Charlie (tarpon) for us. Have a blast.

Just left Bonaire on Sunday....Eli's deli is now Ella's deli and is nowhere near the same as Eli's....New ownership. I will not eat there. As far as the rest AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Trying to head back in June. Capt. Don's is our place of choice
