For those of your that have never been diving up north... Browning Pass is an spectacular display of colour and life! These dive sites have so much life that when you show photos to people, they don't believe you that it is in Vancouver Island! Here is Browning Pass Hideaway website which is located in Clam Cove: .:: Vancouver Island Dive.com ::.

You would need to get to Port Hardy Thursday morning and we will meet at a pre-arranged location where John would pick us up with his boat. This boat would takes us from Port Hardy to Browning Pass Hideaway which is a bit over 1 hour boat ride. Once there we would setup our equipment in John's diving boat and we would leave the equipment there until the last day. All dive sites are about 10 to 15 minutes away from the Hideaway, so John would tell us what time we are diving next... when time comes, you get into your dry suit, get inside the boat and we are off to dive. We return after every dive to the Hideaway for hot drinks, snacks or meals. While doing our safety stops enjoying a hot chocolate and reading some dive magazines, John would fill the tanks right in the boat to get us ready for the next dive. Air and Nitrox are available. Air is included with the price and I believe Nitrox is $10 a fill. The accommodations are rustic. The Hideaway is an old floating log camp that has been transformed to accommodate divers. The place has is heated by fire places and there is hot showers in the bathrooms. There are kayaks and other toys to play with, but after 4 or 5 dives a day... believe me, you'll have no energy to use them.

The Hideaway is located in an area that has no cell phone coverage. The only way to communicate is via a marine VHF radio.
