Can anyone point me in the right direction as to the law about companys who broadcast fax.

i am having an issue with one company in particular after 7 months i am still requesting to be removed and they dont seem to give a crap.

I have tried the # on the bottom and calling them directly, they always say it will be done right away, but every month for the last 7 i continue to get spammed.

What is the law ?

who can i complain to that can get me some satisfaction ?

Am i wasting my time ?

This is a work fax # and i SHOULDNT have to change the # to avoid this.

looking for my options

thx

Andy

if so, fax them about 5 black sheets of paper with the words "you should have removed me" in white print at the bottom of each. Repeat daily until satisfied :)

...but let me guess, they're trying to sell you cell phones? We keep getting them in our office too despite numerous "remove-from-calling-list" requests.

The problem with asking to be removed is that you are confirming your fax number to them.

I'm not sure what the US law is on this one - I'll look into it!

Try this site out:

Spam Law

From what I have read, it looks like the US are hesitate to enforce laws regarding spam incase it breaches "freedom of speech" but I saw a number of cases where the "spamee" took the "spammer" to a small claims court!!! :)

Junk faxing is against US law, specifically Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, 47 U.S.C. § 227.

You have a legal right to go after the company faxing you at the rate of $500 per unwanted fax. I would suggest doing so! :)

your all correct

however there fax is always busy and i can NEVER get through.

I just got off the phone with a diff guy there. He claims that our fax isnt being faxed to. If we are getting faxes still then they are being forwarded to it from a diff #. we only have 1 fax # at the office so i dont see how thats possible.

He is asking me to call him in the morn with the faxs i got, he says he needs them to find out wheres its coming from. This is BS because its coming from his fax number thats printed at the top of all the crap they send us.

He also says our fax number was removed in Sept of 2002. Then i would sure like to know why every month for the last 7 they still fax to us.

this fax spamming has ruined 2 fax machines and cost us alot of $ in toner. We are a small company and getting 10-15 spamm faxes a day is absolute BS.

I will talk to him Tues morn and post you all an update.

You could always just un-plug the phone jack of the fax machine until you know you will be receiving a fax from someone who is doing business with you....I don't know a lot, but is there a listing of fax #'s somewhere and you could call the phone company to ask to be unlisted?

Sign the order George Washington and use
a made up credit card number. Get the stuff
shipped to the local police station.

If they call you, don't hang up. Tell them all
about your health problems, your bankruptcy
and what life has been like siince getting out
of prison.

Have fun with it.:D

Lawman - Now i like that idea but:

The spamm we get is for all diff kinds of goods, Cell phone, Re finance, Sat TV equip, Vacations ect ....

These companys are not faxing us, they pay fax.com to spamm us all. I called the companys and told them to remove me from there fax system and there response was " its not us, you need to call fax.com" in every case.

So these companys think they are not responsible and they point the finger to fax.com because thats who they paid to spamm us.

I have called every fax and told them becasue they use fax.com and the lack of response from fax.com reguarding being removed, i wouldnt buy anything from them, nor will i refer anyone to them ever.

so dont buy from them and tell them why your not buying there products, services ect...
