With a six pack at $14.00, are you allowed to bring your own alcohol into Turks and Caicos (Provo).

Inquiring minds need to know!!

Thanks

Hi Scubagal,

Let me open by indicating that Provo is not an inexpensive island. Not for lodging, food, drinking or diving. If the price of six-packs is going to squeeze you, you may be unhappy there.

That said, you're allowed to bring in 1.14 liters/38 ounces/.3 gallons of alcohol. This is less than six 8 ounce cans of brew.

Have fun.

Do they not make the distinction between hard liquor, wine and beer? Some island nations do some don't. Another thing to consider is weight? Think about how much that case of beer is going to weigh and if it would cost you more in luggage weight overages nevermind the legal issues than buying it on the island. Your already carrying a bunch of heavy gear. Maybe sticking to hard stuff would be your answer, more bang for your buck. Also how closely are these liquor regulations enforced? If your over can you choose to drink the excess? lol

No...Utah takes a dim view of people bring alcohol into the state...:D :D

Yeah, I totally thought this thread was about Utah also. I was really curious to see just how desperate the poster was to get his full alcohol % beer when visiting Utah.

You know...after puchasing airfare, 7 nights of lodging and 4 days of diving it wasn't until I heard a six pack was $14.00 did I get the impression that Provo is expensive!!! What a shock!!! Something tells me that I will still have a great time though.

Thanks very much for all the info!

Where are you staying? You will find that food and booze are the really expensive items on the island. Cost saving tips:

1. Taxi to the grocery store the first day and stock up for the week. Eat breakfast and lunch on what you have in the room if possible.
2. Eat a snack and have a drink before you go out. Skip the appetizer and cocktail. Have desert waiting in the room.
3. Rent your car for a couple of days rather than the week. You can see what Provo has to offer in two days.
4. Hydrate like hell on the dive boat. It makes good dive sense and its free!
