My husband and I are considering Curacao for our next dive vacation in November. Does anyone know what is included as part of the "super-inclusive" scuba option? Will we need to look at booking dives elsewhere? If anyone has beed and can give us some info and maybe some pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

They give you one shore dive per day for free. Their website says:
World-class scuba with free basic instruction, one shore dive per day is included in an underwater park, adjacent to the resort. Additional shore dives, boat dives, night dives and certification courses are available at an extra charge.
The on site operator is Ocean Encounters: Ocean Encounters Curacao. They mainly make boat dives.

Next to the resort is The Dive Bus: The Dive Bus for some great shore diving and nice people.

Thanks Kukuisa! Would you recommend November as a good time to go to Curacao? Does Curacao have any large marine life (ie: sharks, rays, turtles, etc) or is it similar to Bonaire where it is mainly coral and lots of small fish?

The reefs of Bonaire and Curaçao are quite similar with corals and lots of smaller fish. You will probably not see very large sea animals, unless luck strikes and a manta or whale shark passes by. But that happens seldom and always to others :depressed:. Hawksbill turtle, Barracuda and Eel are seen with more frequency and Southern Stingray, Spotted Eagle Ray or Tarpon are occasional.

My wife and I are also planning to be at Breezes in Curacao in Nov. Arriving the 1st, leaving the 11th. When do you plan to be there?
One shore dive per day is included in their packages, through the in-house Op. As mentioned, The Dive Bus is right next door, and I have to say that Suzy has been enormously helpful in assisting us with our day to day plans. We'll be taking our one free tank independently on the house reef, but otherwise we'll be on the Bus.

The Dive Bus - WELCOME

I was there a couple of years ago. It was a multi-family vacation and we had a great time! If you have specific questions about the resort or trip, feel free to pm me.

As for the diving...The shore dives were nice, a bit of current for the newer divers in our group, but completely doable. You get one tank a day for shore dives. I think if you want more they charged $5. You just head down to the dock, pick one up and go! :D If you want to do a night dive, pick it up early and put it in your locker. They provide lockers by the dive shop, so head down as soon as you get there and grab one!

They offer a guided shore dive at least once a day and I recommend joining one before heading out on your own. You have to drag a flag so you'll need instructions on where to pick one up and the procedure for entering and exiting the cut. There's a man made breakwater that makes for good snorkeling right off the beach, but to get out to the reef you need to swim out the cut. Just remember to swim WITH the surge :)

You can book boat dives through the on site dive op. It was a little more expensive than what I'm used to paying, but since this was a family vacation (not a dive vacation) us divers were limited to one day away from the family. It was pretty much a cattle boat, but the reefs were spectacular, especially the Mushrooms! If you've been to Bonaire, you'll recognize that it's the same reef system, but don't expect the same amount of sea life.

There are a number of other dive ops on the island and I've heard really great things about the dive bus. If you have the time, desire and can pull yourself away from relaxing by the beach you should be able to get some great diving in!

We were there several years ago and it included one tank per day. The staff did not seem to be very interested in keeping track of how many tanks people used.

We were there for a vacation with some diving and only did shore dives from the resort. (For diving vacations we go to Bonaire). We had a great week. Lots of things to see along the rock wall in front of the resort. Very easy dive.

As for tips: Make your restaurant reservations as soon as you arrive. They will tell you that you can only visit each restaurant once, but like many things that rule was not enforced. Our favourite was the Japanese restaurant.

If you are planning on sitting on the beach, you may want to bring along a large plastic travel mug as the cups they use at the bar are very small.

Have a nice trip.

What's the best way to travel to/from the airport and Breezes? We're arriving a bit after 8PM and leaving at 9AM (so we need to be there 6:30-7AM). I think I saw mention of a shuttle, but where do you find it?

They were right there waiting for us when we arrived. I believe that transfers are included?
