BP/Wing assembly help!!

ok so I got my backplate and wing, Diverite SS bp with recwing, and comfort strap, i like the quick release on one shoulder etc, problem is, the wing wasnt attached and came with 2 screws for attaching it to... seems kinda flimsy to me or am i just not used to seeing how this thing goes together,seem slike little holds it on but 2 screws?? also its a pain in the *** to get it to fit correctly, having to unthread the straps tighten up, thread straps, adjust, make sure bp is in correct position etc.. any help/advice for a real newbie would be appreciated, Ive been diving with a borrowed bp/w and it really is fantastic, I love the simple uncluttered way it is... but this is new, my own so i need to take the time and set it up right

For securing the wing you will use those two screws ("sex bolts"). In addition you will be running the tank straps though the slots where the tank will sandwich the wing to the plate.

If done right I don' think the wing will be going anywhere.

In regards to adjusting I have a Transpac which is a bear to adjust and monkey with, but once you get it dialed in it is rock solid.

Most of these setups are a pain in the butt at first, and take some time to assemble and adjust. However, once you finally get it, you will like it and be just fine. Just consider this a good learning experience that will help you get familiar with the new gear.

Yes, most wings are only held on by a couple of screws, wingnuts, plastic thumbwheels, etc. Some wings are held on just by the cam bands alone. I know it looks flimsy, but the wingnuts, etc. are only there to position and hold the wing in place until you get the cam bands buckled down tight.

After the cam bands are secured around your tank, the wing is not going to go anywhere. You will appreciate the lack of attachment points when you separate the wing from the BP to clean them after diving. I never tighten my wingnuts so tight that I can't unscrew them by hand.

There are many "experts" that will probably chime in to help out that know a heck of a lot more than I do, especially about Dive Rite setups, but the designs are basically the same on most of them. You may also get some discussion on the differences if you use a STA vs. no STA.

Keep it simple. Hang in there!
 
On my setup I put the screws in the outside positions. I couldn't determine if there was any benefit to a specific location.
 
like in the 12oclock 6 oclock positiion or in the 9oclock-3 oclock position if you know what i mean
