I have a bit to add here.
I dive a 45# Pioneer (6#, single tank wing) and SS BP, two 5# balast bags (one on each tank band) 5mm two piece wet suit. Mostly cold water diving.
I have a set of the ACB add ons. I had to have them for Rescue training since they wanted me to have ditchable weights. I may use them when I dive in SW since I will need the extra weight. I would rather get the "V weight" that mounts between the tank and BP. The idea of ditching weights doesn't fly with me, I dive Recreationally. No tech stuff yet. I like the tank band ballast bags. They hold a 5# lead weight each. For FW diving, those and the 6# SS BP are enough for me (16#) here in Colorado. The Gulf will cause me to add maybe 10# more weight. That is where the V weight comes in handy, Halcyon sells 8# & 11#. http://www.halcyon.net/mc/weights.shtml
There are people on this board that make them in different weights, or you can make your own.
You trim will be better too. I can come up to 1' below the surface and swim or float horizontle as long as I want. I couldn't do that with a weight belt hanging off my waist, it made my center of gravity too low (tried it in rescue class).
Hope this helps some.
