I currently Dive a hogarthian harness, coupled to a dive rite voyager wing, Al plate, and STA at. Home I use a 15l Steel cylinder and with a full 3mm am slightly negative with no weights if I use my 5/7 I'm pretty much neutral.

As much as I love my harness Im considering a new harness, currently my choice is between the Dive Dite Transpacific XT and Apex WTX (same as scubapro XTek) the reason apart from I want one is to perhaps sheaf more weight having just treated myself to a set of Shark skin full suit, vest and top which are all neutral thus I'll be slightly more over weighted.

I'm guessing that with both harnesses I can use my STA but leave the plate off, I like the rigidity and a Steel 15l is 24kg (52lb) full out of the water. With my current rig I need to add 3lb into my cam belt pockets if diving an AL80 on vacation. Is it possible with the transpacific to use a plate if I want too as well as the STA?

Also does anyone have anyone have any positive or negative experiences of either?

im not worried about saving weight for travel as I get 50kg as standard (110lbs)

If may may next year get a tropical dry suit so the harness should cope with that too.

Look ok forward to your opinions

You can not use an STA with either of those harnesses. They will become very unstable. If you are trying to shave weight, I would switch to the Dive Rite SS Lite plate, or a DSS Kydex plate and stay with the hard plate if you want to continue using an STA.
