I have been thinking about this for some time and thought I would gather comments from others. I am a pretty big guy about 7ft 340lbs, i have pretty wide shoulders and had to get my dry suit custom. what I have been thinking about is the size of my bp. when I have it on, and high enough to touch reaching over my head the waist strap goes roughly several inches over my belly-button area, not around my hips. and since i resized it for my dry suit i am having a difficult time getting in and out of the harnes and the waist strap is just barley long enough to close.

my question is, are bpw systems meant to be a one-size-fits-all solution or are there times where a larger or smaller plate makes since? I am sure that i can get a longer length of webbing to give me additional room but should I be thinking of a longer (maybe wider) bp as well?

Thanks for any comments and suggestions.

I believe its longer and a bit wider.

Some other manufacturer's also make "large" plates.

7' large???? Dunno. Tobin (from Deep Sea Supply) is a member here - he may be able to assist you.

FredT is supposed to do some custom work. It might be more expensive than an off the shelf plate, but it is possibly an option. Email address is ftagge@goldinc.com

I'm close to the same boat as you... i'm 6'5 long in torso around 300....i know the pains of finding clothes that aren't custom sized. I'm planning on ordering a large bp from deepseasupply.com they look really nice. check out the whole site.

Yep, I am 6'5", 230. The std 15" plate puts the harness right across my diagphram. I picked up a 16" Koplin plate which does the job, you'll probably want a 17" or bigger plate. FredT is probably your best bet.
