Hey all -

I just wanted to mention a nice deal I found on wetsuits on eBay. A few months ago I decided check out the wetsuits for sale on eBay to see if I could find anything worthwhile. One brand came up that looked interesting -- a BOZ. I decided to take a chance and buy it. It turned out to be one of the best purchases I made this year.

Before buying the wetsuit I did a little research on the company website: www.bozwetsuits.com. This is a small semi-custom wetsuit company based in California that tailors to the local surf and scuba market. They make the wetsuits in LOTS of sizes (>10), which to me indicates the company recognizes that bodies come in lots of shapes and sizes...so odds are the suit will fit.

I'm 5'7" and weigh about 150 lbs. Most wetsuits that I tried on had a size SMALL that was made for my height but was way too tight and the MEDIUM that was made for my weight but was way too long. But my body height and weight fell into the "SM" size of the Boz (funny enough, the only other brands of wetsuits that fit me were the from the "surfer" brands of Body Glove and O'Neill -- the "scuba" brands like Henderson and Scubapro didn't fit me at all).

The Boz wetsuits that are on eBay are the Boz Maxum 3/2 and the San Gallan. I purchased the Maxim 3/2 for about $40 plus shipping. For that price I figured the suit could be a real POS and I would have learned my lesson. I have no clue what the San Gallan is like.

Contrary to my fears, the suit turned out to be very well made. The seams are all glued on the inside and the torso is that "titanium" material that is supposed to keep you warmer. The armpits have some extra material to allow you to move your arms around (many other wetsuits I tried were very tight in the armpits and I couldn't put my arms down!). The neck has a good seal and so do the arms and legs.

The only complaint I have is the zipper isn't long enough in the back -- when it's all the way down, it is still hard to get the wetsuit on. But oh well -- every wetsuit I tried was a PITA to get on. And I guess the only other complaint I have is that the neoprene seemed to snag a lot on other velcro items, but I hear that complaint about many other wetsuits.

So, if you are looking for a good price on a 3mm wetsuit, check on eBay for the Boz Maxum. It's a really sweet deal!

Thx...Doug

I'd have to second that. I also bought a Boz off ebay for $42. (see my profile pic). Since I also wear a shortie, I was looking for a cheap full 3mm wetsuit to see if it made much difference during multiple dives.

It's been in the water for about 10 dives now, and it works well and is holding together much better than the price would suggest. My only complaint? The BOZ lettering on the leg has started to crack when pulling the suit on.
