Well this is my first official post on Scuba Board. I've been looking around and I'm rather intrigued by the DIR concept. I recently switched over from an Oceanic BC to a Dive Rite BP and I LOVE the difference. I am also looking into getting into the more technical sides of diving. Is there a book that is available that can show me the proper techniques and gear setups of DIR? I understand there are also classes that can be taken, where can I find this info?

you may try JJ's book, available from www.gue.com "Doing it right: The fundamentals of good diving" or some such...

Classes can also be found on the GUE site mentioned above.

For setting up equipment I really liked Dan McKay's book "Dress for Success". This book will save people a lot of time and money by providing research and the reasons why while helping you avoid avoid poor choices for gear.

I got an autographed copy from the shop that you'll find Dan McKay in:

It took about a week to get from Canada to California.

As another dive noob, I've been interested by the DIR concept and have just bought the fundamentals book by Jablonski and the Dress for Success.

Didnt even realize it, we had JJs book on the book shelf downstairs. I love how my dad never tells me about the new stuff he buys for diving.
