Hi all,

I suppose this is as appropriate a forum for the question as any other.

It's time for me to pick some audiobooks from audible.com (comes around monthly) and I was hoping you guys could point me toward some good books relating to diving or the sea. If they're unavailable in audio I can get them in print.

So what are your favorite books relating to diving, the sea, exploration?

If you like fiction (lots of action/adventure/exploring) pertaining to the Sea, Clive Cussler (Kurt Austin or Dirk Pitt series) is one of my favourite authors.

And, a more real life story...Deep Descent....a book about diving the Andrea Doria and the ultimate costs that some pay.

The Last Dive, The Shadow Divers, Dive Into Darkness, Deep Descent, and Dark Descent.

I'm quite fond of "Cardan's Pod", but then again, I'm rather biased on that regard.

:D

Some of the books mentioned are pretty good. I've already read Shadow Divers, Dark Descent, and The Last Dive. I'll check out The Silent World and some of the others mentioned as well.

Besides diving, what other areas of interest do you have?
I second the Clive Cussler books for just plain fun reading.

Well...science, history, exploration, adventure. I've read a few of Cussler's books but maybe not the best ones. Usually I'm more of a nonfiction reader.

I couldn't find most of these on audio book when I went looking a while back. I love throwing the audio books on the ipod for travel or whatever but I ended up buying hard copies.
