Well.. looks like my rotator cuff injury is not so... I have a fractured upper arm. May have to get a bone graft.

So... Anybody with a bone graft diving? I know I wont be able to dive during recovery, but how about afterwards?

Thanks

Ah, an educated patient! Don't get too many of them in my Emergency Room. Call Diver's Alert Network (DAN) and talk to your own doctor. You may have to be patient (no pun intended), bones take time to heal. Behave yourself so you'll get back into the water STAT!

From my personal experience only..... I had a bone graft to the tibia 11 years ago. The first thing I did was go back in the water about 2 months after surgery (pool only at first).

I hobbled up to the edge of the pool on a cane, asked them to throw my stuff in the water, and only put a fin on the good leg. Should of seen the faces on the students we had in the pool at the time. Priceless.....

I haven't had any problems since. Except the osteo-arthritis.

Once the fracture is well-healed, whether you had a bone graft or not is immaterial.

I have three of them, and the plates to boot.
