Thanks for the replies. I've done multiple dives a day in 84 degree water without a wetsuit and been quite comfortable. On another trip, I was glad I had my 3/2 fullsuit for 80 or 81 degree water. So for me, I know those few degrees make a difference. Maybe a shorty is the way to go - would certainly be easier to take on and off out of the back of a truck. I don't actually own one, but am considering purchasing an inexpensive one for this trip.

Why not take both? A shorty is not going to take up that much more room and they are pretty cheap. I took a 2 mil shorty that I got on sale for under $50 to Cozumel and to Maui.

It was perfect in Cozumel with 84 degree water, could have used a little more in Maui (but still not bad) in 79-81 degree water.
