Greetings all, We had a great time in Bonaire, 2-27 thru 3-6. Our week was too short, always is, but we had some super dives and good food. We stayed at a rental home in Belhem. Sabal Palms to be precise. A nice neighborhood and beautiful house with a pool. I let my imagination run away with me concerning petty theft prior to our trip. It was more than secure at our place.

The dives were some of our favorites. The Restaurants as well. We tried the Columbian place, Mi Banana. A nice little family place, good food!

We saw a Lion Fish at Jennie's Glory. Another dive group just out of the water found it and marked the spot. we saw it as well. I took some video clips of it but with no lights its not much to look at.

There is alot of new home construction everywhere. But everything else is still the same. We were told by a local that there is to be a change in the governmental control of Bonaire in about a year. I'm not clear on the issue but somehow Holland is to be a governing force of the island, again. We were told it will help the infrastructure of the island and also some advantages for foreign investment. I'm sure we'll hear more form those that know.

All in all, a wonderful week. Go and enjoy its a great place.

Good Dives, SeaFlea

The election was in January 2010!

The green party versus the red party versus the blue party.

Lot's more partying going on than during our elections!

I don't know enough about the political positions and party platforms to provide reliable information.

SeaFly..Glad you enjoyed your stay. I live very close to Sabal Palms and would walk in your neighborhood usually every other morning shortly after sunrise! I was on island the same time you were.
The internet and some posters on this board (who by the way have very little experience there themselves) have a way of extreme exaggeration concerning security when on Bonaire.

I spotted & marked a Lion Fish at The Rock & then went out several days later with the director of STINAPA to remove the marauder. It was subsequently sucvessfully removed.:D

Glad you had a great time on Bonaire!! A week is definitely NOT enough, which is why we go for 2 weeks at a time. ;) Not looking forward to seeing Lionfish on Bonaire, even though they are cool to look at.
