I just don't log dives
Ok I'm going to Bonaire in July and am familiar with all of "the" places to stay and dive.
However, I like to do things a bit different and I don;t really care about 4 star etc etc.
Looking for a nice, quiet place to stay (preferably self catering as an option) away from all the big stuff. Just want to do some great diving but have a place to retreat and recupe.
I know it's a tall order...

In addition to GRI, there is bellefonte. very quite, very nice place to retreat and recoupe (my fav when I have the bucks as it's not cheap). Also, Black Durgon Inn if you don't mind the community kitchen (and it's cheap) but you can't beat Small Wall for a house reef, then there is Carib Inn. There's a new place called Coral Paradise next to Hamlet Oasis on the ocean, that is fairly inexpensive and low key. Then there's Blanchi Koko, one house from the ocean near Carib Inn, Divi. Fairly inexpensive and steps from Calabasas reef. Lots of choices that are off the radar.

Might check with Remax too. They have rentals, and we got a pretty good deal this Jan. Ask for Rob or Elise. Stayed off the water, booked our own dives and truck. Low key way to do Bonaire.

Yep, Herman.....the reason I know about GRI is because you recommended it to me about 4 years or so ago. I figured you knew what you were talking about so we took your advice and had a great stay! Hoping to make it back maybe next year.

(PS: Cow + dog as in Australian Red Heeler which is used for working cattle).

Coral Paradise is my vote. They have a half dozen rooms, full kitchens etc. and walking distance to a number of places. They do their dive ops through Capt. Dons which is right out their back door. Kenny and Margaret are great folks! Check out their web site.

Just my .02 I'm sure all these places are great but, check this out.

Gibi makes breakfast every morning for Golden Reef Inn and ends at 8:45am. We were at Buddy's doing our morning dive and running late. He was there waiting, telling us to take our time...told me he knew we were diving and he was waiting for us.

You can't beat going to a place like that.

I have to ditto the Coral Paradise Resort recommendation. We just spent a week there and LOVED it!!! Kenny & Margaret have a way of making you feel special. It was also very relaxing and convienient to several dive sites (plus the Asian Market and liquor store)
