We are going to Buddy Dive Resort the end of January.

Can anyone please tell me if I should buy some mosquito netting for the bed?

I have been ready about some of the rooms going downhill. I am concerned about the buzzing in my ears all night with the mosquito.

If you recommend I buy one, where is a good place to get one. I am in Texas.

Thanks.

to be honest with you I cannot remember a major mosquito problem on Bonaire.. Now Roatan, that is bug central...Maybe because of Bonaire being relatively dry.Been there many many times ,lost count after 12 visits.Next time to Buddies is in May with a group that I am taking from NY.

is it the noise or the mossies bites youre concerned aboot?

if the noise, take ear plugs - much easier to cart around that netting

cheers

OH, it is the bites.

Ear plugs are good for the husband snoring noise too.

Got that covered.

Spray deet.

As for the netting I'd be afraid to get tangled in the night and fall into some divers worst nightmare dream sequence. Remember, knife and snips so you can always reach a cutting tool.

There have been more mossies than usual because there has been more rain than usual. Take bug spray for yourself and get some spray for the room before going to bed.

'skeeters are inevitable on Bonaire. If you bedroom is separate from your living area, I suggest that you do what we do cuz we live here. We put on the air conditioning, then spray the room with bug spray, close the door behind us and wait about 20 minutes. It catches those pesky one or 2 that make it into the room and we have no problems.

Related question... because of more rain is there any other issues to take account (like RIGHT NOW :) ) Like the short-cut from Karpata, is it a mudslide? Or are some particular sites/parking a pain to maneuveur? Are some shore sites more treacherous or easier to dive as a result of more rain this season?

Woohoo, not too many shut-eyes left!

We used the Karpata shortcut a few weeks ago over Christmas, a week after the big rains, and it was really no problem. Did not see any impact from the rains except for a ton of skeeters. Bring spray, and good spray at that.

We just got back from Bonaire last week. Didn't notice any big mosquito problem--certainly not enough to warrant mosquito netting in your room. Use bug spray when you go out in the evenings; I think that should suffice.

We took the Karpata shortcut on December 27th. It was definitely an adventure, but it was dry!
