I am going to rent a pick-up for the trip so I can shore dive around the island. From what I can tell by the forums that's a fun thing to do in Bonaire. If anyone else going on the invasion has the same plans, I would like for someone or a few people, depending on the size of the pick-up, to go with me. I aint never been to Bonaire and woud feel a lot better, and safer, if others were with me. I am not looking for someone to split the cost with me, just want people to dive with me so that I'm part of a group and not on my own.
That is our plan exactly, we are renting our own truck and sharing it with one other couple and wouldn't mind tagging along so that we can explore all the island dive spots.

I was just looking at satellite photos of Bonaire.

Is it too soon for me to be getting butterflies from anticipation?

CRD and I would also be interested in splitting a truck...it seems like a great option. Should we set up a splitting-truck-signup-board here, or wait until the event? I'm sure the morning boat dives and the local shore diving will keep us busy atleast half the week, assuming other couples are the same, conceivably up to 4 couples could share one truck!

We've never been to Bonaire, so we're clueless about the truck decision. I was wondering if anyone knew whether local law prohibited passengers from riding in the bed with the gear. Possibly get more than 5 to a truck and let the 'bed riders' just pay a daily trip contribution. :idk:

I don't know the local law, but I think you're going to find that gear for 3 or 4 people plus a couple of tanks each (since you'll often dive 2 sites on a road trip) won't leave a lot of room for truck bed riders. Somebodies computer or mask is apt to get stepped on. And a rough patch in the road could make things interesting.

Richard.

And when you hit a bump, you can catch some bon'Aire

If trucks are $300 for the week, split 4 couples (2 couples at a time, each couple diving for 2 days) or 8 people, that's pretty darn cheap. As long as we agree on who puts down the credit card and make sure there is insurance, it should work out pretty well.

I tried to get Cindy to book ours, but she wants to wait for a possible deal. Only one delta flight a day going there. Hope its a big plane.

:D

And moondog(Monica) and I are on it!! Woo! Hoo! Booked the flight with Felix Thursday!! :D

I think Delta 663 out of Atlanta on 6/22 (arrives Bonaire at 2:02PM) will have a lot of Invaders onboard :) Rebecca and I are looking forward to seeing old friends, and meeting new ones. Our scheduled layover is only 59 minutes, but maybe enough time to do something

Rooms may be available at later dates, but I'm thinking the good flights are going to fill up fast.

That's our flight. We are close enough that we are driving to ATL so we will have a no stop/or layovers there and back!! :D

Look forward to seeing y'all at the airport, if not sooner. Maybe we can sneak in a weekend in PC or a spring somewhere before the BON trip.
