Lisa,

Last year when you got lost did you turn inland just before the estuary which is south of Bopec? We mistakenly did that this year but realized our mistake pretty quickly. It feels like you're going to drive right into the terminal before you turn right to loop around it.

Boat,

You are exactly right but we didn't realize it until too late to correct. It least now we know our mistake so hopefully when we try again Thursday we will get it right. We did a guided east shore dive today so asked Bas about those sites. Past Bopec it's Candyland, Taylormade then Carel's Vision and Nukove.

+1 to everyone for the dialogue on this thread. Really jazzed up to get down there later this week.

Curious about booking with Bas (is advanced required?) and assume since you went the conditions were manageable and it was a shore dive vs. boat.

Tim,

I PM'd some info. He did not ask about certification but on the way to the dive he did ask the number of dives we had. For the shore dive we did today at least, I would recommend some experience with dealing with surge.

Lisa,

I guess I have no idea which site of those sites we dove up there then - but I liked it. Have fun. (Maybe take a tire inflator.)

Boat,

Those were the names per Bas but I've noticed the names of some of the sites change according to who you ask!

After talking to Bas about the north sites-mainly Candyland and Taylor Made I was really jazzed to try those dives. Unfortunately after diving Karpata, I had a problem with my pressure hose and had to get it repaired; alas, we never made it up to those sites. I would love to hear about your experiences and impressions of that area.

I agree with you about the surge on the East side. Fortunately I took some Dramamine ahead of time. For me, diving in water with a lot of surge is a sure recipe for seasickness.:vomit:

Thanks Guys. Is there a place here to buy or rent one here in Bonaire? Sounds like a good idea.

I haven't seen a dive shop carry them, I bought mine online. Ask the shops, they might have one for sale.

Otherwise, you can get one when you get back. They are small, and a good item for your save a dive kit.
