What they said! "Drive over and check out the windward side, wear actual shoes." *wear actual shoes*, those rocks are rough and sharp.

And the 🌵

@Deanna Mackey, I'll just add to what everyone else has already said by suggesting that you also consider diving the windward side at least once. Bonaire East Coast Diving runs a custom-built Zodiac RIB out of Lac Bay that goes to White Hole and Turtle City (and sometimes both on the same dive if conditions permit). Keep in mind that diving on the east side of the island is a bit more "sporty" than on the west side. The swell on the other side of the passage from Lac Bay can get pretty big, and there is a surge. It's not treacherous by any means, but I would only suggest it for someone confident in their skills and comfortable in the water. Their website is Bonaire East Coast Diving. Turtle City is, as the name suggests, chock full of green sea turtles. On the leeward side you might be lucky enough to spot one or two during your week. On the windward side you'll see dozens in a single dive.

Enjoy Bonaire!

My suggestions:

1. A day in up in the park. Dive Bartol, Wayaka, and Slagbaai (go left).
2. The unofficial sites above the oil refinery ending at Playa Frans. Surreal landscapes of hard coral. Look for piles of rocks with sticks in them on the shore.
3. In at la Dania, out at Karpata.
4. Sites around the bottom tip, Lighthouse etc. Gardens of soft coral. Turtles. Can be rough entry - go early.
5. The Lake - interesting topography, Hilma Hooker - cool on the approach, Angel City and thereabouts for the double reef.
6. Cai with Bas Tol.

Enjoy.
