I'm a Fish!
Hello yall,

My buddy and I are going back to Bonaire this summer.:D Last year, when we were in Bonaire, we searched for caves as I know there is cave(s) somewhere. Do you guys know where the caves are? I don't mind explore it and go snorkeling in it if possible.

Thanks!

Are you asking about land caves or ocean caves?

The land caves are called Barcadera. They're near the Caribbean Club resort. Bonaire Dive & Adventure used to guide trips there - maybe still do. I read somewhere there's one you can snorkel in. It's managed by the BMP.

There's a small ocean cave at the Small Wall divesite at Black Durgon Inn. About 60'.

Your best bet is to contact DBA or Outdoor Adventures. Hans does still do guided snorkeling in the caves. There are many on Bonaire. It is not allowed to dive these caves. You can also contact Stinapa, the Marine Park, and they can put you in touch with the certified guides who can take you snorkeling. STINAPA's web address is www.bonairenature.com

Just happened to stumble across this in the Jan/Feb Sport Diver.
Go here: http://www.caribbeanclubbonaire.com/
Click on Activities. About 1/2 way down there's a picture of the cave and a brief description.

There is a cave (more of a cavern I guess) at Karpata between 115 and 130'. We met a guy who runs a small tech dive op there and he told us about them. I forget his name but I am sure you can find him on the net. There are suppose to be a ton of tarpon and nurse sharks around the cave.

battles2a5, interesting, anyone know about Karapata cave? where is it?

Thanks all for the links and contact info!

Recently, I saw the "cavern" that you are referring to at Karpata. I captured it on video. Upon seeing it from a distance, I started to get excited thinking it was a cave. As I got closer, it turned out to be not much but a indentation in the wall. Theoretically, I could fit myself in there but that's about it. There were no sharks or tarpon in the area when I was there.
