thanks All for the responses - just joined scubaboard and first post - amazing community and am amazed at the excellent fast replies !

I too first joined SB while searching for dive destinations. Bonaire became a favorite of ours because DeputyDan invited us to join his group along with Herman quite some time back now, when I also had posted an inquiry here. We have always returned to the island at least once a year, and this last summer got another chance to spend a week with these great friends again!

You are correct, this is a great group for the most part, if you don't let a couple argumentative air heads or blow-hards bother you. Every group has a few of those, and SB is no exception. Ignore them, if they pop up.
Note: they won't go away if you ignore them, as some problems can do, but ignoring such trouble making can make SB seem a lot more welcoming than getting sucked into their drama.

Thanks Jim. Diving with all those kids keeps us young.

For other readers - Jim and I are now taking our 14 year old nieces / grand kids to places like Bonaire to dive.

My daughter is quite disappointed that she is not included in my Australian trip coming up this winter, but she has "aged out" of being young enough that her Dad feels obligated to fund all of her diving.

As with my Bonaire trips, she was still invited, but no longer fully funded.
