Last time I was there I noticed a few places had daily boat rentals available at what seemed like a resonable price.Has anyone had any experiance with this? It might be a fun way to get some boat diving in on my own schedule. Can you remember any specifics such as prices, size of boat, hours, quality of the boat itself, ect. Any specific names would also be quite helpful. It may be a fun way to spend a day off gassing also. Thanks in advance for any help!

You can rent a boat, but- they prohibit diving from them. I am not sure if its because they want to protect their charters or if they are worried about the liability but, I have seen some very clear disclaimers and "rules" about waht you can do with the boats.

But,.......this was at "Toucan Diving" at the Plaza..........others may have different criteria.

It could be that they don't want a lot of people anchoring on the dive sites and ripping up the reefs.

If you own your own boat you can rent tanks and dive from it. You can't rent tanks from one operator and use them on another operators boats, or take them by water taxi to Klein, or use them on a privately chartered boat.

I don't beleive it is a park reg - i think it is a local "trade association" type rule. I beleive it is based on liability concerns as well competitive concedrns.

Yep! Your reason is more likely-now that I think about it. Its a small price to pay I feel, to keep the environment in the pristine condition that it is though.
