Trip Advisor has reviews for Cactus Blue as recent as May 2012. When did they close?

Chef Hagen posted a "taking a break" message on the Cactus Blue's Facebook page on May 5th 2012

"Dear Friends and Family,

some of you already know and others will find out. Without making this all sound too dramatic, I have closed Cactus Blue for a temporary period of time to allow myself to persue a dream and a passion. It might be a very selfish thing to do as you would love me to open my doors and cook my heart out for you. I wish that that were possible at this time but with the deepest regret I simply cannot.

Since my life changed 3 years ago I tried to hold the business together with what unskilled personal I could find on the island as skilled personal does not appear to be in a huge supply. My son Sebastian helped ove the years but it is time for him to take his final exams and leave this beautiful island of Bonaire to study further in Holland this coming July. I will miss him with all my heart. Florian my middle son has the talent to become many things but would love to enjoy life a little more and be chilled and for that I love him dearly. My youngest son, yes it is true, I have 3 boys, Christian who is 14 years old, loves to do what all 14 year olds love to do, but I am now spending more time with him in the evenings and he is enjoying my company, even if he doesn't show it all the time.
So there we have it. My time will be spent focusing on racing my kite and diving for the Lion Fish. Time with my sons and time for myself.
Thank you for all your support over the years and for the support you give me now and in the future.
kindest thanks to you all
Hagen
Sebastian, Florian and Christian"

Cactus Blue and Richards are not open any longer.

Wil's Grill and City Cafe' are reputable; I like to get Barracuda at Wil's. Bon Appetite has Chinese food that's a good value compared to food prices at restaurants on the island in general. Pasa Bon Pizza is pretty well liked (I had fish pizza there), although some people really dig the pizza at Captain Don's Habitat. It Rains Fishes is good but pricy.

Richard.

I am sorry to hear that Richard's is closed. Was the property sold? Does anyone know if Richard still lives in Bonaire? We have taken several trips to Bonaire to celebrate our anniversary and Richard has always made sure that it was a special occasion.

Cactur Blue was still empty as of mid-February. Hagen has a lunch truck that is supposed to be excellent. He is usually at the kiteboarding site near Pink Beach, lunch only

Cactus Blue: not cheap, but excellent food.

Cactus Blue ~ bar & restaurant

I was in Bonaire last month and enjoyed kite burgers from Hagen of Cactus Blue. He has a food truck at Atlantis Beach where all the kite surfer and the kite surf school hold classes.

Hagen is usually there by 11:30AM. If you're diving in the south, the $7 fresh grilled kite burgers are worth a stop in for lunch during SI.

This is an old post but seems to be re invigorated. The take out pizza at Donna and Georgio's was very good recently. As I recall, they only do pizza at lunch and for take out, but not on their regular dinner menu.
I think Pasabon pizza is almost as good as fast food Pizzahut. I agree with Herbdb, not worth it. I haven,t had the pizza at Habitat for a few years but it was ok, not stellar.

My favorite restaurant on the island is BobbeJans. Small, unpretentious and good BBQ on the weekends. Pretty fond of Mi Banana as well. Family owned and run home style Colombian. The place is run down at the edges and off the beaten track, but the people and the food are good.
