Wife and I are considering visiting Bonaire this fall but she doesn't dive. As a single diver, will I have difficulty finding others to dive with? Just not sure what the protocols are for shore diving...thanks

We're thinkin' Mid-November...

i had the same situation. wife doesn't dive. it all worked out great

on the boats, of course, it's not an issue.

on shore dives, it's also not an issue so long as you are willing to talk to
people or dive solo if push comes to shove

i ended up meeting some nice people and diving with them, and then doing
some solo dives when things didn't work out

basically, you get yoru truck, pack it with tanks, and go off diving. nobody
asks any questions, and you return, unpack, and fill up again... etc ;)

My husband and I will be in Bonaire from 11-9 to 11-23. We will be staying at the Golden Reef Inn. If you make the trip you are welcome to dive with us.

i will have to see. now that we just got our mexico trip schedualed for jan i think i might have to save the money up. 7 nights is big $. 4K for the whole trip for the 2 of us. + diving 8 dives----2cenota----2cozumel--2 boat---2shore if i want too

I was in exactly the same situation in July this year, and I will never do it again.

I stayed at the Habitat, and just about everyone but me was in a big group that did everything together. I was just fine on the boat dives, but the shore dives were a real pain. I had to try to latch on to people like a leach. Most of the people had signed up for enough boat dives to fill their weeks, so it was tough just finding people who were planning to dive.

In about 30% of the plans I made, the others made last minute cancellations for one reason or another. On another planned dive, something came up for the people I was going to go with. They had to leave early, and they couldn't find me to tell me.

The dive manager had a simple slution for me: buy more boat dives.

I even went online to Bonaire Talk while I was there to see if I could find anyone. The only thing I got from that was advice to go to some of the more popular shores and wait for someone to show up. I actually tried that once--I don't recommend it.

Perhaps it was just because I was off season, but if I go again, I will have another plan.

If you can hold off until Feb you are welcome to come join me. My wife dives but not as much a I sometimes like so we both would have buddies. Unless plans change my other dive buddy may also be bringing his non diving GF as well.
