Not sure I understand...Are you saying that a new law in Ct prohibits diving off of a private boat? Or are you talking about diving around a launch point?

We had a dive group there last year. All the boaters were complaining of the couple of dive flags near the boat launch. Thier complaint was that it was impossible for them to get their boat in if divers were towing a flag near the boat launch. They put up a big stink about it.

Dude, that is a little inconsiderate to dive at a boat ramp, right?????

Yeah, people complain that boats ignore dive flags. Well if boaters are paying attention to the dive flags, this is like closing the boat ramp which is hardly fair. Sounds like they're being forced to legislate common sense, too bad.

I agree. We can't form a blockade of flags around a boat ramp and expect them to stay 100 ft from the flag; it's impossible. I whish we could find a compronise such as you can enter using a boat ramp but you can not go under until you are like 200 ft from the ramp. Until then we have to have understanding of what the boaters concerns are and it is of our safety. I am also happy that there are boaters that know what a dive flag is.

Sounds like CT could use a few more dive sites if you're forced to dive near public boat ramps.

Diving in Connecticut especially from the shore is just not worth it. I prefer driving a bit farther and hitting spots in Cape Ann or even Cape Cod. Long Island Sound is just not that good to dive in.
