I flown to Sorong from Jakarta 3 times. Garuda non stop from T3, was the best. It's an overnight flight and I am lucky that I can sleep.

If you can arrive the day before then for sure, but if your schedule does not allow it I would not stress. Despite what you see on Scubaboard, getting to Sorong (or Komodo for that matter) isn't half the adventure it was ten or even five years ago. The odds are very much in your favor.
