It doesn't look like I can make it, darn the family obligations. I hope you have a great time.

Saturday has came and went ;-0 but it it's wake we left a great day of diving. The day started with very cold temps and a brisk wind. It was snowing and blowing the truck all over the road. We got to Blue springs quarry and nearly froze signing in at the office. We were the only people there at that time but two divers from Noblesville had recently left. We drove to the back entry and unloaded our gear. The wind was very cold so we lit Scott's heater which helped a bit. We donned our gear and headed into the quarry. We dove the whole quarry in the 59 minutes we were under and never really got cold thanks to our drysuits and Argon:fire:. It was a great dive. I had only dove the quarry once before and got a great dive on this; my second trip here. Thanks Scott for being the tour guide. We saw boats, trucks, drums, large rocks and some great wall features. The wall on the west end of the quarry reminded me of Whitestar Quarry in Ohio. The vis was pretty good but I am sure it will get better as we get farther into the winter months. We stopped at Applebees on the way back and talked about doing some ice diving there this winter if anyone is interested. We will post a plan when one is in the works. I am not used to this Indiana weather yet but so far I feel like I am in Michigan just without the snow. If these temps remain like they have been these last few days we will be ice diving in the near future. Looking forward to next time at Blue spring.

Glad to see you had a good trip. I was there last April (pre drysuit) and it was cold then too. Just ask JBD.

Keep us posted on those trips.

IT was cold but a lot of fun....

Cold diving is better than no diving..

In the winter the vis is a lot better and especially at gilboa the crowds are less. As long as you have a drysuit and a little bit of argon, it's just like diving in the summer, but better. There is a big down fall and that would be the wind. In the summer if you do get cold, all you have to do is head up and you will hit the thermoclines. You start to warm up in a hurry. In the winter you dont have this feature and once you hit the surface and experience a brisk wind that's when things head south; sort a speak. All in all I like winter diving. You have to pay a bit more attention to the little things but to me that makes it that much more enjoyable.

SO WHEN ARE WE ALL GOING???

Jeff

Hey, ICUROC don't forget your heater next time we go to Blue Springs quarry. I think I am going to Michigan this weekend to get some stuff I have left up there and am going to pick up my 40' tarp to hang around the set up area. I think that way when we get some "not to sure if they want to do cold water diving" divers, they can stay warm.. That would include ME.
