See that bar that's a couple inches up on your screen? See where it says "Search"? See what happens when you click it? A box appears with a place where you can type "Blackbeard" into it. See the "go" button? Click it.

I asked a simple question, and yes I have done the search. If you cannot answer or have better things to do, do not post...Oh, you have nothing better to do....... :11ztongue

Not to pile on, but what exactly do you want to know coz? I've been on Blackbeard's before, am going again this May, but from participating in/lurking on several of the other Blackbeard's threads here, I think about everything that could be asked has been.

I was just looking for some people that have been out with them before. SORRY WHEN I DID MY SEARCH I DID NOT GET MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED. ..Anyway got them answered elsewhere...

Has anyone sailed with them out of Miami?

We are looking at going out with them or going back to Cozumel.

Coz,

Three Times, I will be looking for other trips now. Worth the money but many intangibles, like weather, passenger dynamics and crew dynamics.

Loved it. Rustic, yes, but affordable, good diving and very good operation. See if you can get a bunk in the main cabin, I hear the forward cabins are small and stuffy. Listen to the suggestions of what to bring with you. If you are prone to motion sickness, prepare yourself, the ~6 hour crossing from Miami to Bimini can be tough.
The best description I have heard is that it's like camping at sea. This is no luxury boat, but it consistently gets a two thumbs up in this venue. The food, the staff, the reefs, all get my stamp of approval. I have never heard anyone here say one negative thing about this operation. And with good reason!

Ah yes driving away new board members with sarcasm and "wit."

It's not what you said it's how you said it. A little tact can go a helluva long way.

The original question:

Blackbeard's is a great trip from what I understand. I will be sailing with them next year and I am really looking forward to it. It's very inexpensive and you can get a LOT of diving in all over Bimini. However you don't have any privacy at all and very little freshwater. Your "room" is a bunk in the galley with the only privacy being a curtain over that bunk. Basically it's camping on the water. As long as you know what kind of ship you are going to be on you will have a great time. If you want a luxury liveaboard I would strongly consider looking at the Aquacat. Very posh and also run by Blackbeards.

Thanks Mike, Sue and Chris!! Not sure if we will be making the trip or not but like you said cannot find one bad report about them.
Has anyone done both trips? If you had your choice would you go back to Cozumel or go with Blackbeards?

Hi! Hope I'm not repeating anything from the other "70 posts" that the lovely gentlemen mentioned you should search for, but I can't be bothered.

You have to do Blackbeard's at least once in your life. It is totally 'roughing it' but the atmosphere and liveliness of the crew will get everyone's spirits in a great place from day one and by day seven, you'll be begging to stay on the ship. I hate slumming it and almost left when they showed me the toilets, but my friend and I had such a good time we didn't notice we were sharing a room with four country boys from NC and two strange men from Texas. Prep ahead, so that you bring little things like clothespins to hang your clothes on the rail and something to kill the smell of the gear boxes. It was a great mix of ages too and everyone was partying hard in Bimini and got to be tight-knit. Even a prim schoolteacher was removing her underwear and sticking it on the wall at the End of the World Bar. Food was simple but hearty and good. Of course, I could be slightly bias, since I met the love of my life on one of those boats two years ago! Do it, you'll love it, and liveaboards are the only way to dive! If you've done Cozumel before, why not experience something new? ;)
