Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone here had experimented with Black & White u/w video? If so, I'd be interested to see some examples and/or here comments.

Also, does anyone know if its possible to color correct to Black & White using iMovie (on Mac)?

Thanks.

Cheers :14:

i'd be interested to see if anybody else has, but i doubt it.... IMHO B&W is used for dramatic effect; you'd have to have pretty dramatic footage to make N-1 minutes of video into B&W - anybody got some footage of nemo attacking Jaws? now i'd watch THAT in B&W!

iMovie will do it. But you need very strong graphic design to make black and white "work" Maybe a wreck in clear water. When you remove all the pretty colors all you have left is composition so it has to be good.

IMovie for basic B&W works well.
I have some great footage of Grey Nurse and Wrecks that look fantastic in B&W, I would not use it on coral or day to day fish but a wreck and sharks work well, even a bit of Sepia on wrecks looks great.

Just convert it to B&W then push up the contrast a bit.

Cheers
Chris

IMovie version 5.0.2
Its under effects third option down.
Add a touch of contrast after you have done the B&W Conversion.
