YUP! But the 30 seconds is only for the fresh water and a strongly suggested time frame. The idea is to use salt water to soap and wash and then use the fresh water to rinse off, for that the 30 seconds is enough. Also on port night, there are hot fresh water showers in the port. You have to remember that the boat can only carry so much fresh water and the desalinization also takes time to refill the tanks.

SteveC:
I was just checking out the Black beard web site. Are they serious that there is only one shower on board and that you only get 30 seconds of fresh water time per shower?

Steve

That is one of the reasons I didn't book with them. I'm going on the Juliet instead:
www.sailjuliet.com

Private rooms, only 12 divers, and unlimited showers in a shared bathroom. 30 seconds just doesn't work when you have long hair to shampoo. 3 minutes I can do--but not 30 seconds :-)

Two words: evaporative hose.

This is the "other" shower on the boat. The freshwater condensate from the air conditioners is collected and stored for personal use. Some folks (me) use that in almost total exclusion to the below-decks shower. It smells a little odd and for God's sake don't drink it, but for rinsing the salt off it's peachy-keen.

When you are doing 2-5 dives a day...why do you need to wash your hair so often? Your hair is going to be shot no matter what you do!

nothing to do with how often you wash your hair, washing long hair any single time in 30 seconds is just hard...

You get 30s of fresh hot water per day period
As much salt water and condensate water as you want

Seriously if this is bothering you now...you might want to consider a more gucci live aboard. Blackbeards is good, but it is basic.

What the heck are you talking about? Who said anything about washing hair after every dive?
