What is your knife preferance? I prefer a large knife. It can do everything including hammer.

Depends on what kind of diving I'm doing. I have both.. but usullay take the big one.

I prefer to have a small knife on my BC and a medium sized, sharpened 'pry-bar' on my ankle for most dives. I have a small Gerber River Runner on the BC and an old Sea Hawk knife on my ankle.

there are advantages for both. whatever you take carry at least two and mount them to be sure that you can grab them with either hand. I mean put one where you can get it with your left hand and put one where you can get it with your right hand.

we can't predict but we can prepare.

I use both. Small on BC, large on ankle. Also, a pair of EMT shears on BC. I also prefer a blunt tip so I don't stab my BC or drysuit, since I often dive in water with less than a foot of vis.
