Last weekend I was taking a rescue course. I was looking for a person that was at about 35 feet in a lake. vis. about 10 feet. I got close and was finning down when I noticed some water in my reg. I then took the next breath and got a mouth full of water. realizing I had a short time to decide what to do I grabbed my second and had to purge clear since I had no breath to blow out. anyone know why that would happen? Its good gear well maintained rental.

I am no equipement expert, but I want to know what happened next.

Was there a continued problem, or did it just happen at that moment?

well it was a little wet the next dive. I didnt dive after that so no further playing with it. The dive cons eyes got big when the reg floated past her face LOL.

Was your mouth piece on tight? Any holes or cracks?

Loose mouthpiece or a problem with the exhaust valve.

Had a similar problem 2 weeks ago on a reg I loaned a dive buddy. Performed a mouthpiece swap and had the bitewing on upside down somehow. Fixed it and put a new zip tie on. No problems since.

Sounds like everyone has it covered already.
