My husband and I will be in Grenada for a day on a family cruise and have heard about this wreck. We got certified in 2010 and will have at least 60 dives each by the time we leave. We have about 20 dives in Nor Cal diving dry and 30 dives on warm water trips to Mexico, Roatan, and Hawaii. Hubby has been down to 125 ft in a cenote and I've been down to 85 ft on a wreck dive near Puerto Morelos MX.

Is this dive too advanced for us? I'm up for a bit of a challenge to see something cool, but certainly don't want to dive above my abilities. I love wrecks and this one sounds like one of a kind. I'm not sure we'll ever make it back to Grenada.

I haven't done it but I'm pretty sure it's an Advanced cert. required dive. And it's deep. Found this on Aquanauts website under "Advanced Diving":
It is possible to dive the wreck right into the swimming pool at 130 feet as a no decompression dive. Because of its size it is not possible to see her completely in one dive. The central structure has been collapsed downward and to starboard. There are plenty of deck features to explore, like the promenade decks. While moving forward you pass the davits overgrown with elegant black coral trees, delicate hydroids and sponges. The top of the bow is at 90 feet and the foremast is still standing upright usually populated with large schools of fish and circulated by barracudas, jacks and mackerels. Since sometimes strong currents floating over her and because of the depth, it is a dive for advanced and experienced divers only.

Well I was thinking about this well after I left the computer last night and I don't feel exactly comfortable doing this dive. We do have AOW and Nitrox certs, but 130 ft just seems really really deep to me, and until it doesn't seem that deep anymore (60 ft used to see deep, then 80, so I'm sure I'll get there) I don't think I'm ready. Maybe next year I'll feel differently :P

Thanks for your post :)

Are there any dive ops even heading out to her anymore? Last i heard there weren't any.The dive shop I used to work for would go down there for a week of exclusive diving on the wreck.

we were there in Sept and yes they all do dive it...mostly by request...i recommend diving Hema....ask around im sure someone will take you...the shops are pretty easy going and this was one of the best dives i have done anywhere....you can see it all on this dive...sharks rays octopus...bottoms out just over 100 ft...with mod currents.
