Hi All,

My wife and I are two weeks out from our 9th trip to the Lesser Antilles (Bonaire: 6; Curacao: 2) and need some beta.

I have a week off between jobs so we figured we'd do a quick trip to Bonaire for some diving... trouble is our previous 5 previous trips were mostly in February, October or November. So, I am looking for any information on the prevailing currents/winds during July that may either open/close dive sites on the island.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Jim

I assume you are looking for data, not beta....
There are rarely any winds or currents in Bonaire that close dive sites on the west (lee) side. Occasionally there are "wind reversals" during which the prevailing trade winds slow, stop, or reverse, at which times one can more easily dive some of the southern or eastern sites. If you really want to believe two-week forecasts, then try Windguru.

Perhaps "beta" as in measure of risk?

We're heading to Bonaire for our 5th trip during July this year. Sometimes the far south sites get blown out, but on days like that if you stick to the west side, you'll be fine.

I don't think the far south sites are blown out any more than in winter. Wind tends to be from the east almost all year.

Generally, the weather in July is hot and sunny. Very little current on the west side. IMO, July is a great time to dive Bonaire.
