One of our guests wants to learn diving but is using a beta blocker called Bisoprolol Fumarate. She is using it to slow down and regulate her heartbeat. Does someone know more about the combination diving and using this medicine?

From the DAN website:

Classes of drugs known as beta-blockers often cause a decrease in maximum exercise tolerance and may also have some effect on the airways. This normally poses no problem for the average diver. ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitors are the preferred class of drugs for treating hypertensive divers; a persistent cough is a possible side effect

The DAN website can be extremely informative about all blood pressure and heart rate drugs.

Although that does seem a strange drug for slowing heart rate. Atenelol is usually the drug of choice.
