go to a craft store and buy one of those scissors that looks like a pizza cutter. They are used to cut fabric and worked on my neck seal like a charm. I had a buddy hold both sides even and just rolled the scissor along.

Eventuall, the seal is going to be loosed out and cracked from the edge over time.
If then, I am wondering why you need to stretch it out for a day or two?

It doesn't affect the lifetime of seal? Isn't it enough to prestretch right before the trimming?

It is just newbie question though...

Another thing I do before I trim seals is to "prestretch" them over a coffee can in the neck and soda (pop for you northerners) can for a day or two.

You can also slip the seal around a plastic bottle and use a razorblade to trim the seal. Only take off small amounts at a time and check for fit before removing more. Remember, you can't make it smaller after you cut some off!

If you're working this alone (with no extra set of hands), jlyle's suggestion works great. I first started off with the scissor technique and started to mess up. Then I tried jlyle's approach and it worked nice and smooth. Make sure the razor is new. Good luck!!

I've witnessed this method go south in a hurry. The guy was using a tank for the neck and as he cut the seal, it suddenly split vertically. The scissors method works fine if the blades sharp enough and long enough. I prefer a second set of hands to hold the seals.
