Best Scuba Diving Area and/or Company in Cairns or Port Douglas

Hi, my husband and I are beginner level divers (certified, less than 20 dives) and will be in Cairns or Port Douglas. Any recommendations on areas we should go to or best companies? We are looking for a day dive or a 2 day, 1 night trip. Would love to see exciting sea life- sharks, etc. I was reading that the farther out you go the better- is Agincourt decent? What's the best place to go with beginner level and to see most exciting sea creatures possible?

Also, budget friendly options welcome. Thanks!

Cairns local here. Port Douglas is a beautiful spot to stay but only a few day boats really run out from there.

Best from Port would be Silversonic which visits Agincourt (southern most Ribbon Reef) and guides are included.

If you want overnight you'd have to go from Cairns. 2D1N only 2 options OceanQuest or Reef Encounter.
