Where's the best place to get a good deal at the Presidente Intercontinental? My wife and I are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary next year and would like to stay somewhere nice. Supposedly this hotel has nice reefs right off it's shore.

Yes, El Presidente lives up to it's reputation from what I've heard.

The best deals are usually through the charter packages like FunJet, MLT or Adventure Tours, also if you have a GOOD travel agent they will search for you and seek out the deals.

Give sunfinder.com a look...this past June, Wife and I spent 7 nights at Presidente in deluxe ocean-view for $650 per person...5 & 7th nights free! Booked air seperatley through funjet at $249, direct flight from Chicago.

When I booked there 2 years ago, I believe that through the web site was the best deal I found. When we arrived, they upgraded us for free. I think we had breakfast included in the price, which was great. Meals & drinks are pretty spendy, but I'd go back in a minute.
It was a great place, with good snorkeling right there. Easy entry from beach and good area made it nice for my novice wife. Scuba Du (on site) was pretty good too. Have fun!

I know it isn't what you asked about, but you can get the Occidental Grand on Hotwire for $151. I believe that it is listed as a 4 star all inclusive.

Has it reopened yet? IIRC, it was one of the places hit hard by Hurricane Emily.

Gordon, I do believe that the Grand has reopened, but the Allegro and Iberostar are still closed. For what it is worth, I was looking for a hotel for December when I found the un-named but very possible Occidental Grand property on hotwire. It was only available for 2 adults, add kids to your search and it isn't available.
