Tygert Lake & Summerville

I visited there this weekend and found some of the bluest fresh water I have ever seen. The problem is, as best I can determine, there is only one site where you can reasonably do a shore entry.....Henderson's Rocks. Inital vis was nothing because the entry point was downstream from a swimming area. Once we his 15' the vis was an easy 10 to 15'. But judging from what I saw and heard, there are locations where the vis can be better than 30'. The location was Indian Cove, which is accessable by boat. Since I am renting a boat on my next visit, what other sites can you recommend?

Thanks
Jack

Are either of those places have a power plant at the lake? I read about one that isn't far from PA, but I can't remember the name of it.
I believe you're thinking of Mt. Storm.

jbliesath:
It's supposed to be really nice.
Yeah, it's supposed to be, but lots of things are supposed to be different from what they really are.

Summersville, but viz has not been that good this year, Circleville and Gilboa, but the atmosphere was not as friendly there as i really like it, except for Penny, Bob and Randy of course, who were a hoot this weekend so if you head up to either of those be sure to hook up with the GLWC's on this board.

Or head out to Rawlings Va or contact the NC wreck divers on this board. Either of those groups will get you out there.

Someone who regularly dives Mt Storm told me Tygart (he just started diving there) is hands down better than Mt. Storm.

Did ya get the AOW completed???

Mt. Storm is not worth the drive from Huntington, IMHO. If you're going to spend 5-6 hours on the road, go to Rawlings or Bluestone.

This was the article that I had read. I couldn't remember which mag it was in. Anyway, I would be driving from Allentown, PA, and my buddy and I are just looking for new places to check out. Seemed that Mt. Storm got a good nod from Diver Training, but I wanted to hear from some of you guys that have dove it.

Thanks for the input! :D

Looks like Summerville Lake and Twin Quarries (south of Columbus) are your closest shots.
