i just got back from a great week of diving in sipadan and i would like to plan for trip to manado. can someone tell me where to get a good/best package deal to manado, ex-KL or singapore.

thanks.

hi there we got back 2 weeks ago from Manado, where we did a weeks live onboard with Murex - I think we got a good deal about S$1300 including air tickets from Singapore, transport to the resort (40mins drive), the boat with a crew of 8 (12 divers), 6 days diving 22 dives (on air, nitrox is available only for land based holidays), food for most meals (all on the boat).

At the airport we saw many people from Froggies another resort there (search in google for froggies divers - that should find it)

I'm looking at going to Sipadian in September, where did you stay? what were the dives like? deep or shallow? do they restrict your depth? did you visit the Turtle Cave?

Any answers would be a great help.

thanks for the info, blackice. i stayed over at the sipadan water village resort which is really in mabul. great place, and great people. you won't regret staying there. i paid rm1400 ex tawau. it was 5d4n but we had to spend the first nite in semporna and travel by boat to mabul the following morning. the price includes all meals(at swv). i did 10 dives. the weather was great except for one morning when it rained on us. vis was not great but ok. all in all it was a good dive vacation.

Thanks for the info, were all the diver following a DM and what sort of depth did you go to or were you allowed to go to?

I have heard that you start by going down to 40m then work your way up from there is this true?

Guess you didn't dive the Turtle Cave?

no i didn't dive turtle cave. because most of us are novice divers, the DM didn't take us very deep, max of 30m. yes, there were two DMs with us on each dive. our group size is between 5 and 9.
