I beat Leisure Pro all day long and you receive a manufacturers warranty with my product. Like I said if you don't like your local lds find another but NEVER group me in the LDS stores that sell retail only.

If you don't sell retail, then how do you sell? Do you sell Scubapro and Aqualung? Can you beat LP pricing and provide a manufacturers warranty? Wait, are you even in the USA?

No i don't. We try to promote LDS. I understand that not all are good (in fact I have a beef with some). I like to meet my divers face to face and evaluate what equipment might fit them best for diving and body shape.

It's called smart business. Can I ask what you do for a living. My store is in the midwest.

I am still impressed at the average of 334 students per year for 30 years.

What does LP being owned by Jewish folks have to do with his statement being ignorant?

If you don't find the statement "I won't buy from LP - Damn Yankee's" ignorant on multiple levels, well that is your opinion. If he had a reason other than "Damn Yankee", well that would be a start! :rofl3:

Sure. I was a mathematician once - now I'm a quant. Thanks for asking. Can I ask what the name of your store is and where in the midwest you are?

In regards to the original question, I've bought several times from Leisure Pro without any issue. Were I not close enough for basically free overnight delivery I'd certainly try one of the other popular sites (scubatoys comes to mind).

One thing that I don't think has been mentioned is that many brands, like Aqualung do not consider Leisurepro authorized dealers. If you take your regulator in to an authorized shop to have it serviced, they have to look up the serial #s. If the numbers come up grey market, the shop is supposed to turn it away, or they can lose their authorization to sell.

This is not a comment about the quality of online stores, just a fact of purchasing grey market.

Is it really fair to say "many" brands? Seems more often the issue seems to be that LP is NOT authorized to sell Scubapro and Aqualung (they also do not appear to be auth'ed for Atomic)

LP is an authorized dealer for "many" of the other big name gear manufacturers such as Oceanic, Aeris, Mares and Zeagle (I'm sure there are plenty others as well) So it's really not fair to blanketly state that "LP gear is grey market" (I know that is not specifically being said here - but it seems a popular opinion of the hardcore online store opponents).

I bought my(and my wife's) Aeris BC's and our oceanic regs at LP (along with aeris and oceanic dive comps) and they are all fully factory warrantied. It would have been nice to buy at the LDS but there are none in CT that carry both brands

I don't know off hand which brands LP is and is not authorized to sell. If they are authorized to sell Aeris, and you were able to get a good deal on your equipment, that's a great thing. From their FAQ:

"Warranty Policy
Leisure Pro buyers find the best products at the lowest possible prices wherever they are. Since (sometimes) that means that we do not buy it directly from the manufacturer, nor are we authorized by them to sell their products, so we are not bound by the official/unofficial manufacturer's suggested retail prices, and we can pass on the tremendous savings to you. In some instances the product will come without an English language manual or manufacturer's warrantee cards valid in the United States. In those cases, we provide our own Leisure Pro Warranty, which offers equal or greater protection. "

Again, I am not talking about their service, their in-store warranty or anything of that nature. They may very well provide significantly better service than many shops out there. My comment related to warranties, specifically, Aqualung. Aqualung does not want you to touch a reg that was not bought through an authorized channel. keyshunter, I don't think the shops WANT to turn away any business, but if they service a grey market regulator and Aqualung finds out they lose the right to keep selling Aqualung. Aqualung tracks every rebuilt kit that goes out and gets used. Part of that is insurance reasons, part of it is to keep they grey market products down. I'm not saying it's the best policy, but it is their current policy.

Sorry but that's bogus. Aqualung provides LP with all of their stock. (One way or another). They love those sales. "Keep grey sales down". ???? You kiddding? Where did you think that LP source their stock? Fuggehtabowtit.

Dustinh,
Aqua Lung may be a bit picky about parts which are returned for replacement under their warranty, but what about the many thousands of non-gray market regs, which either are without warranty or have been bought second hand? Should service on these regs be denied? Even if such nonsense as you state above were written into the dealer agreement, it would be totally unenforceable. In addition, there is the fact that parts sales are a huge profit center for the manufacturer.
