Most of the dive sites can be excellent or just good. Occasionally a site yields low critters kne day but entry the next day. Always expect the unexpected. Nudi falls is usually good, madadir is very good, mawali wreck, pantai parigi, makawide 1-3, aer bajo, hairball, tk 1, angels window, critter hunt, Serena and jahir I have seen plenty on. Depends what critters u want to see. It's all good! Always repeat as it's always different!

I loved Police Pier. Lots of actual trash down there, but somehow that was very scenic. Loads of frogfish, plus multiple ghost pipefish and various other critters - bit the highlight was really the last 20 minutes of the dive in the shallow water under the actual pier. The one time in Lembeh I cursed leaving my wide angle lens at home - beams of sunlight streaming through the platforms and the pearl nets hanging from them, a massive barracuda chasing bait balls shimmering in the sun - a truly magical dive...

It depends on what critters you're looking for. And it changes; sometimes a certain site is full with critters for a period and quiet the next. That's also why it's always worth repeating as there's always something different.

Ditto. It's worth diving every site twice. The first time we dove Rojos, it was rather mundane. The second time, it ended up being the best dive of the trip with 4 Ambon Scorpionfish, 2 Coconut Octopuses, 2 Flamboyant Cuttlefish, multiple Wasp Scorpionfish, and a Mimic...

Madadir on the first dive yielded a shaggy frog fish and not much else, a week later we had a mimic, 2 hairy frog fish, Adams zebra crab, bumblebee cake urchin shrimp, bumblebee shrimp on sponges, imperial shrimp, zebra moray and a Pygmy pipe horse. First time on jahir night dive I saw nothing.literally nothing. Second night dive I saw starrey night octopus, Donald Duck shrimp, banded snake eel, bobbit worm, blue swimming crabs, coconut octopus and a bobtail squid. And then in the day followed an oriental slipper lobster, wonderpus, reptilian and Napoleon snake eels! Each dive is different! More so than anywhere else I've been

What are the favorite dive sites in the strait? Conversely, which are the sites not so hot? Are repeats worth it?
Just back from Lembeh a week ago. LembehR&Critters has given good advice, as you'd expect ;)

We had a great guide who asked what we wanted to see and then chose sites accordingly. We took his advice and we worked through a huge list of critters I(many of which got added to the list on day 3 after we'd worked through our list already) in a week.

My faves in the week: Nudi Falls, Nudi Retreat, Jahir at night...and good muck diving at TK 1, 2 and 3...those were great dives from start to finish for us...

Angel's window had great promise, but the conditions weren't the best when we went. Every site had its highlights...for example...I wouldn't do Serena West regularly, but is was special to come upon the beds of black urchins with dozens of Banggai Cardinalfish of all sizes hovering amongst the spines...and there was only 1-2 dives in which I didn't see something that I'd NEVER seen before.

I agree with all of the above. Repeat the sites as there are always new things to see. Make sure to do the night dives as well. Some of my best dives ever were at night in Lembeh!!

In 8 trips to Lembeh I've never seen one of the TKs (1-3) not be one of the "hot" sites. Jahir is consistently a great night dive, and Nudi Falls has always been one of my fave sites for the beautiful wall with muck below
